OCUA is proud to present the first edition of the High School Ultimate Circuit. Every high school in the Ottawa-Carleton region is invited to participate in the Ultimate Circuit throughout the 2013-2014 school year. All you have to do to WIN some AWESOME prizes is form an ultimate team in your school, sign up for tournaments, play ultimate and accumulate points! It's that easy!
2013 HSUC STANDINGS as of October 18th, 2013
Teams can accumulate points based on three criteria: Participation, Ranking and Spirit. See below on how to earn your points. After each tournament, a temporary ranking of all the teams will be published on the OCUA website. Teams with the most points at the end of the 2013-2014 season will win prizes!
Participation – 50 points
As soon as you register a team to a tournament, you earn 50 points, regardless of your ranking! Teams need to have a minimum of 10 players (6 guys, 4 girls) to be eligible. All players have to be students in the school the team represents (exceptions have to be approved). Schools can register more than one team to a tournament, as long as each team meets the minimum player requirement.
Ranking – 25, 15, 10 or 5 points
Points will be credited to each team based on the final ranking of each tournament. Team in first place will earn an extra 25 points, while team in second and third place will respectively get 15 and 10 points. The team that finishes last in the tournament will also receive 5 points for their efforts.
Spirit – 30, 25, 15, 5 or 0 points
Every tournament in the circuit will be recording Spirit points based on this grid. At the end of the tournament, each team will receive points based on the Spirit scores they received from their opponent. Each team that receives a perfect average (5/5) will receive an extra 30 points! Spirits points will be distributed as follows:
To summarise, let’s use an example. Team Blue from Ste-Marie High School participated in 3 tournaments this year. To start they accumulate 150 points for participation. The first tournament was their first experience, they finished 6th out of 12 teams (no points). In the second tournament, they improved their ranking and got second place (15 points). In the third tournament, they had a few injured players, but still managed to finished 3rd (10 points). In each of the 3 tournaments, they received an average of 4.5 spirit points (3x25 points). The blue team finishes the season with 250 points!
