EDITORS NOTE - ULTIMATE HAPPENINGS EMAIL DATABASE OOPSIE:

I managed to delete my database of email addresses and lost
some additions, changes and removes that were requested
recently. If sent me a request for any of the above between
June 29 and July 13 then I probably have lost it and ask
you to send it again. I apologize in advance for any trouble
this may cause.

Thanks
Mike

CALL FOR OCUA BOARD OF DIRECTOR NOMINATIONS:

Yes, it's that time of the year again; OCUA Elections.

In accordance with last year's election, four Director's
positions are coming up for renewal this year.

The term is for TWO YEARS and is open to anyone registered
as a member of the OCUA.

Please notify the Elections Officer (Stephan Suys) of your
intent to register as a candidate.

The nomination deadline is AUGUST 10th and each candidate
will have to submit a brief OCUA-related biography by August
13th. (guidelines will be forwarded to all candidates)

The Elections will take place on the playoff week-ends of
Aug 28-29th and Sept 11-12th.

For more information, or to submit your candidacy, please
e-mail Stephan Suys at s_suys@hotmail.com.

Good Luck to all

ps. Please pass this info on to team-mates that may be
interested but do not have email.

************************************************************
BOARD OF DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION:

I would like to take a moment to give anyone who is interested
in running for the OCUA board an idea of what the job requires
and what kind of commitment will be needed.

In no particular order.

- Able to attend a board meeting every two weeks. This meeting
lasts about 2 hours. It usually starts at 6:30 pm off season
(fall/winter) and 9:00 pm in season. While the night is not
set in stone Mondays seems to be the current favorite.

- Able to commit at LEAST an hour a day for OCUA business.
This is a minimal average. Some days you will not spend any
time at all but on others "whew" there will be lots to do.
This does not include the bi-weekly meeting.

- Able to check and use email at least once per day. This isn't
a requirement but it is VERY useful. We do the majority of
our work via email and if do not have access it will be very
hard to keep you in the loop.

- A flexible job. Being available to take time out during the
day to handle a phone call, answer a critical email or leave
the office to do a necessary chore is very useful.

- Ability to take on a portfolio (one distinct area of OCUA
business - an example could be the field manager position or
public relations) and be OCUA's first contact and main person
responsible for anything related to that portfolio.

- The positions up for elections are for a two year term so
please be prepared to stick around that long barring any
unforeseen life changes that tend to come along.

- Common sense.

- New ideas.

- A passion for Ultimate that will not be dimmed or
extinguished by lots of Ultimate business.

- The desire to be the "someone" referred to when anyone
says "you know, someone should do ...".

Thanks
Mike Harley

FIELD NOTES:

1) Dogs are not allowed at Orlando Park. The fine is $115

2) People have been parking on the grass front lawns of some
of the homes near the Lynda Lane fields. Please respect
our neighbors and do not park on their lawn.

3) Sod Farm: Please do not park in the side parking lot
(parallel to the entrance). We have closed this area due
to large amounts of mud and cars are driving on to the

WOMEN'S HAT TOURNAMENT REMINDER - JULY 24:

Here is an opportunity to play WITH some of the women you
have been playing against all this time (no men in drag
please) while also contributing to a worthy cause.

Our hope is to combine various skill levels (from people
who have never played before to competitive level players)
and put together some fun but competitive teams.

Saturday, July 24th, we will be holding our first ever Women's
Hat Tournament, with the proceeds going to Breast Cancer
Research, at the Sod Farm in Manotick.

We hope to make this an annual tournament. We will be limiting
teams to 10 players each and will be trying our best to keep
them balanced with an equal skill level, dividing up the
competitive players amongst the teams.

DOUBLE DISC COURT TOURNAMENT - JULY 24TH SOD FARM:

There has been good interest in this tournament, but there is
still room for a few more teams.

Double Disc Court is an exciting game that focuses on throwing.
It also doesn't require much running, so it's a perfect game
for the Handlers out there *smile*. Rules will be explained
before the tournament since most Ultimate players in Ottawa
don't know the game yet. This is a great opportunity to learn
a new Disc game so grab your sunscreen and come on out! All
the proceeds are going to the Flamingoes Sharing Through
Scoring charity fund-raiser which is raising funds for The
Children's Wish Foundation, The Heart and Stroke Foundation
and The Wild Bird Care Center.

You can register as a single player or as a team (teams have
2 players). To register or if you have any questions contact:

Gavin Thompson
e: ffflamingoes@hotmail.com

or check out the Flamingoes website www.visitweb.com/fff and
click on "sharing through scoring".

Please note the last message on this event in Ultimate
Happenings had the wrong email address for Gavin Thompson.
The one above is correct.

It's beat and chewed with a few good dings in it but it's been
