ESCAPADE 2000:

On July 2, 2000 the National Capital Commission (NCC) will
host Escapade 2000, an all-day, recreational cycling, in-line
skating and walking tour of the National Capital Region. The
60-kilometer circuit will lead participants through the region's
world-renowned natural areas, using its extensive network of
pathways, parkways and urban parks.

I am part of the team co-ordinating this event. We need about
30 info-mechano volunteers. The "info-mechanos" will provide
a basic bike repair service and act as information officers.
For those who need it, the NCC will provide a basic mechanic
course for the volunteers (changing tires, chain, basic brake
adjustments). The greatest part is that the mechanos will be
on their bikes, cycling around on that day. It is the best of
both worlds!! You get the mechanic course and you get to cycle
all day!

There are also other volunteer positions available. If you're
interested in volunteering, contact the NCC Volunteer Centre
at (613) 239-5373 or 1 800 465-1867.

In addition Ultimate will be a featured sport. OCUA will be
running a day long exhibition pickup game, an accuracy booth
and throwing skills clinics to promote our sport and our
association. Volunteers are needed to do what Ultimate Players
do best.....PLAY ULTIMATE!

To join the exhibition team contact Mike Hall-Jones at 235-7576
or mhalljones@sprint.ca

Spend a fun-filled day helping the NCC make this event an
exhilarating experience for the 25,000 participants expected
for Escapade 2000!

For more info on this fun event call Gwen Prillo at 239-5386.

CANADA DAY EVE CAMP OUT - JUNE 30TH ALL NITE AT SOUTHPARK:

If you have missed this in the past, do not miss it this year.
The best way to celebrate Canada's birthday - the great
Canadian camp out.

This year we will be groovin' to the sounds of Mel Nino as
well as drums and guitars at the bonfire (if you bring drums
and guitars). And of course no Canada Day is complete without
some dancin' to taped music (if you bring some tapes).

As usual we will have the fireworks display and this year
something a little special - come see what i mean... It is
totally free and only 2 things will be asked (until we ask
some other things): bring some fireworks (they can be bought
at Bakkers Store at the corner and please camp out so no one
drives home...

As it is a Friday night please bring your party spirit(s) too...

Music, Fun and Fire - come for the fun - stay for the freaks...
