OCUA - BOARD OF DIRECTORS ELECTIONS - NOMINATIONS NEEDED:

Please consider running for the Board of Directors in the
elections during the upcoming summer league playoffs.

We need more people, especially new people with different
and fresh ideas - the current old farts are pretty much out
of ideas.

If you haven't been too active in the past and think no one
will know you - don't worry about it. This election is for
anyone who wants to help OCUA and guide it for the next few
years.

Yeah, I know being on the Board of Directors does involve
some work and time commitment but look at the benefits:
- You automatically become one of the "inner circle".
- You get to hear all the juicy gossip before everyone else.
- You get a key to the executive porta potty.
- You learn a lot about human nature.
- You get some great experience running a large organization.
- You get the satisfaction of putting something back into
Ultimate in Ottawa and also make sure it continues to grow
  and prosper.

If you are interested submit your name to Stephane Suys at
s_suys@hotmail.com.

Deadline for submitting your name is Monday July 31st.

FIELD ISSUE #1: DRINKING AT IN-CITY FIELDS:

Please do not drink alcohol at any of the following fields:
St. Pauls, Lynda Lane, Laurentian, Mitel, Romulan, Carleton

As part of our signed agreement there is not supposed to be
any drinking at these fields. Our rental agreement could be
terminated if this continues.

FIELD ISSUE #2: PARKING AT MITEL:

(A short word from someone of authority at Mitel)

Just a brief memo regarding the parking situation. Tonight,
we had the Ultimate frisbee and soccer teams using the fields.
The Alcatel soccer team and both Ultimate frisbee teams were
using the fire lanes and grass for parking. The Ultimate
frisbee players took the liberty of taking down the ph3 chain
which, as we know is to remain up for safety reasons. The
Ultimate players need some sort of an official reminder, as
I believe, I've warned all the teams by now and they keep
doing it. This is the second time they've taken down the chain.
The soccer officials, also need to be made aware of the rules.
When, I spoke to the Alcatel team tonight about moving their
cars, the official asked me to leave the field. At that time,
I reminded the official and the teams about the field rules
and told them I would stop the game, if the cars weren't moved.
They were a little upset!

--------------
(And now a bit more from OCUA's field manager)

Do not park in the fire lane. I can't believe I have to send
out a memo about this. Come on, folks! Let's use a little
common sense. We are permitted to play on this field for
free. Mitel does it because they want to do something nice
for a sports league in which a number of their employees play.
But if we screw them around, we'll lose it, plain and simple.
If we lose that field, I'm going to petition the Board of
Directors to boot out the teams and players responsible. We
cannot, I repeat cannot, afford to lose any goodwill from the
people whose generosity allows us to play this game. A lot
of hard work by a considerable number of people--in this case,
Andrew Szabo--goes into getting us these fields, and we owe
it to them not to mess it up. A Mitel employee recommended
us for this field and his reputation is on the line with his
employer, as is ours.

So please do not park in the fire lane and don't move any
chains. I know that some repair work is being effected but
walk a little further if you have to. I've suggested to the
people at Mitel that they tow away any transgressors!

Thanks for your help in this matter,

Eric.

--------------
(And a final comment from me)

I am on the Board of Directors and I promise that if an
Ultimate team costs us the use of the Mitel (or any other
field) through a lack of common sense (read -> stupidity)
I will also ask that that team and players be removed from
the league.

Mike

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: TO FIND MORE FIELDS:

We would like someone to help lead a long term (6 months to
a year) project to find more fields for OCUA. Some things
this could entail are:

- Lobby the city to give us some more fields.
- Lobby the city to build fields for us.
- Look into renting more fields from Sod Farmers, etc.
- Anything else you think may help out.

If you are interested and would like to take this on please
contact me. When we have a lead for this project I am sure
they will request more help so if you cannot lead, but want
to help, please wait for a future announcement.

Thanks
Mike Harley

************************************************************
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: TO CONSOLIDATE OCUA'S LOAN:

We would like someone to lead a project to consolidate all
of OCUA's debts into one long term vehicle. Currently our
main debts are in the form of a first and second mortgage
on the UP Inc. site and outstanding shares for UP Inc.

Our goal would be to wrap all of this up together into one
long term deal.

If you are interested and would like to take this on please
contact me. When we have a lead for this project I am sure
they will request more help so if you cannot lead, but want
to help, please wait for a future announcement.

Thanks

LOCK COMBINATIONS AT SOD FARM AND UP INC HAVE CHANGED:

The new combination to BOTH is 00-18-08

************************************************************
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED - NEW TESTS FOR ASSESSMENT OF CONCUSSION:

We need help in developing a new series of reaction time tests
that eventually will be used to assess the cognitive effects
of concussions. The publicity surrounding the effects of
concussions in athletes has highlighted the need to develop
tests that will be useful in examining the short-term and long-
term effects that concussions (as well as other types of brain
injury) have on various types of cognitive functions. In order
to meet this need we have developed a series of reaction time
tests. Before these tests can be used with individuals who
have suffered a concussion, we need to collect normative data
on individuals who have NOT suffered a
concussion.

If you are interested in helping us develop these potentially
useful clinical tests, please call or e-mail me. I can be
reached at (613) 520-2600 x 2472 or lrees@ccs.carleton.ca
Only one hour of your time is required and we will arrange a
time that is convenient for you.

Thank you in advance,

Dr. Laura M. Rees, C.Psych.
