CALL FOR OCUA BOARD OF DIRECTOR CANDIDACY

Yes, it's that time of the year again; OCUA Elections.

We're looking for FIVE dedicated individuals looking
to give back to the Ultimate Community.

The five positions are to fill the 4 Board Members whose 
terms are ending, and one to back-fill the vacancy created 
when Nick Roberts left the Board.

Our departing Board Members this year are:

Ken Lange (President)
Deb Murphy
Kathy Butler
Doug Tahirali

Our best wishes and biggest Thank-YOU's go out to them.

As in previous years, we are looking for 4 candidates to 
accept the role of OCUA Director for a period of TWO years 
AND, exceptionally for this year, a fifth candidate to accept 
a ONE year term to replace Nick Roberts.

The candidates with the top 4 highest vote count will get the 
2 year terms, and the fifth place candidate will get the one 
year term.

The candidacy call is open to any registered member (ie. 
player) in OCUA.

Since the Elections will again be held in late August, we are 
facing a fairly tight schedule and as such, the deadline to 
submit your candidacy is Midnight on Friday Aug 3rd.
(NB. All I'm looking for is your intent to run in the 
Elections).

Following that, I will want a brief bio and picture to be 
submitted by Midnight on Friday Aug 10th.

Full Elections rules (for both candidates and voters) will be 
provided in the near future.

EXCITING OPPORTUNITY WITH SPORT ALLIANCE OF ONTARIO AND 
CANADIAN RED CROSS
 
Take part in a NEW Sport First Aid Course.  This new course 
focuses on the care and prevention strategies that are 
necessary for those involved in any sport.

This course is being offered in Ottawa FREE of charge.  The 
course will offer full Sport and Standard First Aid 
Certification.

This pilot course will take place on August 11 & 12 from 9am 
to 6pm each day.

It will be held at Carleton University.

LABATT 24 HOUR RELAY 1ST ANNUAL ULTIMATE TOURNEY

The Labatt 24 Hour Relay, has finally seen the light and has 
replaced it's annual soft-ball tourney with it's first ever 
ultimate tourney.  The 24 Hour Relay, a fund raiser for the 
Royal Ottawa Health Care Foundation, takes place this year 
August 18 & 19 at the Nepean Sportsplex.  

The main focus of the event is fund raising... the side shows 
are the "relay" (a leisurely 3.2 Km at a time), the ultimate 
tournament, the volleyball tournament, the beer tent (with 
round the clock entertainment), two hot meals (supper and 
breakfast) and camping out under the stars.

We are currently developing what we intend and anticipate 
will become the ultimate Canadian Ultimate portal (I hate 
that word, but...), eventually branching out to encompass the 
U.S. next, and then the rest of the world.

We have  approached, with great success, various product and 
service vendors and writers either directly related to the 
sport of Ultimate or to the lifestyle that Ultimate 
represents.

As such, I was wondering if any of your contributing 
writer's, or anyone interested for that matter, would be

LOST SUN GLASSES

I lost a pair of prescription sunglasses in a green Gucci 
case on Thursday, July 19th at UPI.  The glasses aren't 
Gucci, just the case.  They have a brownish frame and round
