A CANADA DAY TRADITION CONTINUES...

You've played there. You've layed out there. You've lost
there. Now is the time to camp there.

The forth annual pre-Canada Day camp-out will take place at
UPI this Sunday, June 30th. The Ultimate community is
invited to start the Canada Day debauchery one day early by
heading to the UPI fields for a camp out and fireworks
extravaganza. We have had more than 100 joining in on the
festivities. We hope to top that number this year (better
fireworks show!).

The party starts anytime after you get there on Sunday. Make
sure to buy your fireworks at Bakker's store (at the corner
on the way to UPI) and be prepared to take out what you
bring in (i.e. no garbage/bottles left behind).

Camp sites are wherever you pitch your tent, showing
ultimate respect for the fields.

One other thing, the club house hill has been reseeded and
we are not to go on this area, it will be roped off.

See you there !!!

being scheduled at Barrymores for Saturday, July 13th. Disco
Inferno will be playing and tickets for ultimate players are

any old disco wear that you have and get down and boogie to
the disco beat...Tickets are available through ticketmaster
for a regular price of $6 or at the door for $8 (for non-

get there early to ensure you get it.

HOPE BEACH VOLLEYBALL VOLUNTEERS

As one of this year's HOPE Beach Volleyball recipient
charities, The Food Bank needs to recruit 50 volunteers to
help with site maintenance "on the day".

The event is on Saturday, July 13th at Mooney's Bay. There
are two shifts available. The first is 11:00 a.m. to 4:00
p.m. and the second is from 4:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m.
Volunteers can park at Carleton University where shuttle
buses will take you to and from the beach.

Working in pairs, volunteers will be asked to clean up and
maintain the beach, bar and VIP areas by picking up cans for
recycling, monitoring the condition of garbage cans and
performing other site maintenance duties as assigned. You
will have an opportunity to walk around, enjoy the games and
see the entire beach.

To secure a spot on the "Hunger Fighters Clean-Up Squad",
please contact Colin Chalk by e-mail at
colin@theottawafoodbank.ca or call The Food Bank at 745-
7001. We are looking for 50 volunteers, so please feel free
to pass along this invitation to friends and colleagues.

Many thanks! We hope to hear from you soon.

ABANDON SHIP!

Participate in world leading ship safety research in Ottawa.

Volunteers ages 18 to 50, in good physical condition, are
required to assist in a ship evacuation study. Shipboard
experience is an asset, but not required. Take up the
challenge of climbing ladders, opening watertight hatches
and doors in a tilted corridor, and contribute your valuable
data to this research. This angled corridor simulates a
vessel in distress - heeled over due to an accident or fire -
how well would you fare evacuating in an emergency?

All that is required is a few hours of your time
transportation and refreshments will be provided, along with
rewards for your participation. Testing is being conducted
now - so contact us today to participate!
