          *** SPECIAL ISSUE: VOLUNTEERS NEEDED ***

This will be a lengthy but important message.

2- Duties required and how to sign-up
3- Government workers can get PAID volunteer leave !
4- Paid course for serving alcohol
5- Prize and awards

1- Volunteers required
======================

We need almost 1000 hours of volunteer work to help
in having the best National Ulty Tourney Ever !

Here is what we need:

- Web Masters (need these NOW !)
- Translators ( French / English )
- Field Line painters [Aug 10-11, 17-18 ]
- Player Pack preparations [ Aug 17-18 ]
- Field Prep (tents/chairs/etc..)  [ Wed Aug 21 ]
- Registrations/Welcome  [Wed Aug 21]
- Parking [ 2-4 hr shifts ] [ Aug 22-25 ]
- Field prep ( early morning/ late nights ) [ Aug 22-25 ]
- On-field "gophers" ( water supply, scores, etc..)
- Concession/Beer Stand ( 4 hr shifts )
- BBQ cooks (1hr shifts)
- Player/Media Liaison officers
- Pre-Event odd-jobs ( picking-up / dropping-off stuff )
- Misc. on-site extras during tournament

The task assignments will be broken up into 2-4 hr shifts
(to break monotony and let people help in various areas).

Look on the Nationals web-site at :

http://www.ocua.ca/Nationals2002/VolunteerInfo_en.htm

and click on the link for a complete list of ALL volunteer
requirements.

You can volunteers for as many shifts as you like in as many
tasks as you want.

We need people at various times of the day as well, starting
at 7:00am on Thur, Fri & Sat, and going as late as 9:00pm
for site clean-up after the day's games.

The IMMEDIATE requirements are for :

- web designers
- translators
- and people wanting to work in the beer tent
  (...OCUA will pay for a course which the Province requires
  you must complete before being allowed to server alcohol
  in public, see item #4 )

WE NEED A LOT OF VOLUNTEERS ! SPREAD THE WORD AROUND !!

2- How to Sign-up
=================

If you see something you would like to volunteer for, e-mail
Stephan Suys at s_suys@hotmail.com with the following info:
   - Your name
   - The task (or taskS) you would like to volunteer for
   - When you can volunteer (date/ time)
   - How much time you wish to volunteer

Or, if you're available for day-long periods, let me know
and I will assign various tasks to keep you busy ...and
entertained.

Also,we need quite a few "early birds" for 7:00am morning
shifts. I know this might be hard to find volunteers for,
but anybody who volunteers for the early morning shifts
( 7:00am ) will get free coffee and muffins on-site....

As I received your input, I will assign or confirm task
assignments on a daily basis. I will use direct e-mail, the
web, Ulty Happenings, and Open Forum to keep people informed
of what we need.

3) Paid Volunteer Days for Gov't workers
========================================

Did you know that Government workers can get a PAID leave to
volunteer for a non-profit organization ? ( ...like OCUA...)

We really need people for the days of Thursday and Friday
( Aug 22-23 ). Talk to your manager to see if you can get
PAID to watch Ultimate !

4) Alcohol Serving Course
=========================

I'm sure most of you can pour your own beer, however new
liquor laws stipulate that ANYONE serving alcohol to the
public must first pass a certification course to recognize
potential abuses and how to deal with them.
(...anyone who has a job serving booze probably already has
this; ...and we'd LOVE to have you as a beer volunteer ! )

OCUA has decided to pay for this course for anyone who will
volunteer to work in the beer tent during the Tournament.
(...you might also be asked to work at other OCUA events
where alcohol may be served in the future ).

The course is a few hours long, followed by a
test/questionnaire which gets validated by the Province
before a certificate is issued.

We're looking for 10-12 volunteers SOON...;
Since the certificates take 1 month to be issued, we need to
have the course completed around July 15-16th

5) Prizes and Awards
=====================

Anyone who volunteers during Nationals will get "credits"
for the work they have done.

Sometimes after the Tournament, we will have a "thank-you"
get-together with food and munchies for all the volunteers,
where we will draw for all kinds of prizes. The more
credits you have, the more chance of winning you'll get.

If you have ANY questions or wish to volunteer for any
activity please feel free contact Stephan Suys at
s_suys@hotmail.com

Thanks,
Stephan Suys
