OCUA SUMMER LEAGUE FINALS

Well the end of another Summer League is upon us. The OCUA
will be hosting its annual Finals Tournament over the next
two weekends.

   Monday Finals Saturday, Sept. 7th
   Wednesday Finals Sunday, Sept. 8th
   Tuesday Finals Saturday, Sept. 14th
   Thursday Finals Sunday, Sept. 15th

League coordinators will be providing details of the
schedules for each day. With the late start to the
tournament this year, the later time slots may run into
problems with light conditions if games do not start on
time. Please make an effort to start your games on time and
finish them on time. A horn will be sounded at the start and
end of each round, but as most of you are aware this may not
be heard clearly at the fields farther from the clubhouse
rise. Captains should still agree to a time piece at the
start of every game and use it in case the horn isn't heard.

As in past years, parking will be an issue for the Monday,
Tuesday and Wednesday finals. A shuttle will be running
between St. Mark's and UPI for these days. There will be no
shuttle for Sunday, Sept. 15th.

Parking at UPI will be charged according to a sliding scale
to encourage car pooling.
 1 person - $4
 2 people - $3
 3 people - $2
 4 people - free
 1 person in a two seater vehicle - $2
2 people in a two seater vehicle - free

We will again have beer and a BBQ available after 11am on
the Saturdays and after noon on the Sundays. All proceeds
from beer, food and parking will be donated to Friends of
Abandoned Pets, a local charity that rescues neglected and
abused animals and places them with foster homes until
permanent adoptions can be arranged.

PLAYOFF ELIGIBILITY

Please note that to play with any team in the OCUA finals
you must have played at least five regular season games with
that team, be a registered player on that team (as per the
online system) and registered on only one team per night.

Captains should be aware of any tier/division specific
changes that were introduced at the captains meeting.

Captains who wish to enforce the eligibility rules are
advised to print out the rosters of the other teams in their
pools from the online system. The system has been locked out
to pervent any last minute additions.

HEY CAPTAINS...I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!!!

Between now and the end of October I will be forwarding you
a short feedback questionaire via your coordinator. I would
really appreciate it if you could take a few minutes and
briefly answer the questions about how you feel the season
went. This feedback is an integral part to improving the
internal communications of the league and I want to hear
from you!

The finals taking place this week end and next, will provide
an excellent opportunity for you to have some discussions
with your team around what they liked and what they didn't
like about the past season. It would be great if you could
take note of their comments so you can include it in your
feedback.

Have fun at the finals!

Apparently there has have been several car break-ins and
thefts in both Jacques Cartier and Gatineau Parks. This is
just a reminder not to leave valuables in your cars!

FUNDRAISING AUCTION - FALL 2002

The National Capital Division and the Outaouais Ski Zone are
non-profit organizations dedicated to the development of
alpine skiing excellence in Ottawa and Gatineau area youth.
They oversee alpine ski racing programs, including the Nancy
Greene and Skill Awards programs, as well as Juvenile and
Junior racing programs. During the 2002/2003 season, the
National Capital Division and Outaouais Ski Zone expect to
have over 1,000 athletes in racing programs.

Since 2001 the National Capital Division and the Outaouais
Ski Zone have partnered on the operation of the National
Capital Outaouais (NCO) Juvenile and Junior (FIS)
development ski teams. These two teams consist of male and
female athletes committed to representing the Ottawa and
Gatineau regions at provincial and national competitions.
Among these Ottawa-Gatineau athletes, we hope to find
Canada's next Nancy Greene or Ken Read.

The fall fundraising auction is the most visible fundraising
initiative undertaken by the NCO teams.

Help support the 2002/2003 NCO teams by attending the
auction; your support is sincerely appreciated.
