BOARD OF DIRECTORS UPDATE

I just wanted to take a few minutes to bring everyone up to
date on what the board of directors has been up to. This
term brought 3 new members on board: Megan Ironside, Chris
Moran, and Steve Ott. The rest of us welcome the new faces,
and have quickly put them to work. :) We also bid farewell
to 3 members of the board: Andy Morrisey, Steve Seabrook, &
Nalan Yuksel. Although I'm sure they will stay involved in
the league, we thank them for their service and hard work.

The new board has had two meetings so far, and most of that
time has been spent on orientation. Based on the
recommendations of the previous board, we are revamping the
way we operate, in hopes of making better use of our time.
This has meant even the returning members have some changes
to get used to.

The biggest change is a reorganization of the board into 4
distinct areas of operation, or cells. Each area is covered
by 2 board members, who coordinate activities within that
particular cell. They work with other volunteers and our
General Manager Nick Roberts to research issues and develop
solutions, which they then present for recommendation to the
board. For your information, the breakdown of cells and
their associated directors is as follows:

Business Administration: Deb Murphy, Chris Moran
Communications: Robin Kealey, Megan Ironside
Facilities: Gavin Thompson, UPI Rep (currently vacant)
Leagues/Tournaments: Lauren Wardell, Steve Ott

As a league member, if you wish to raise an issue to the
board, it is best that you direct your concerns to the
president, general manager, or one of the board members in
the appropriate cell. Of course, any director will be happy
to talk to you on any issue, but this is the most effective
method.

Finally, for your information, board meetings are currently
scheduled for the 2nd Tuesday of every month, with the next
meeting being Tuesday, November 12th. Minutes from the
meetings will be available once they have been approved, and
the communications cell is currently working on the
logistics of making that happen. This should help keep
everyone informed of what is happening on a more regular
basis. You can expect to see the first sets of minutes
within the next couple of weeks.

Cheers!
