a refresher on the rules! Cutting and basic drills with some
team play concepts this week.

Before you come out, please read the 10th edition rules at

Beginners (0-2 years experience): 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Intermediates/Advanced: 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Location: Lynda Lane (off Smyth Road, check OCUA web-site)

Ottawa's top competitive women's team and Canadian 2002
National Champs "Stella" is organizing a women's ultimate
skills clinic on Saturday, May 24th. Cost is free for OCUA
members (ie: playing in OCUA's summer league).

Beginners (0-2 year experience) will start at 11:00 am -
1:00 pm and intermediate/advanced will start at 2:00 pm -
4:00 pm. You can attend either or both if you would like.

Beginners level will focus on the fundamentals of the game,
perfecting your throws and learning new cutting techniques.
The intermediate level will get into more details about
strategic offence, how to be the best defensive player,
break-force throws, strategies on zone, and tips for the
perfect layout.

The location is Lynda Lane (off Smyth Road). Check with the
OCUA hotline: 860-OCUA (860-6282) and Stella's web-page
(http://www.ocua.ca/competitive/Stella) for any changes to
the location or times of the clinic.

Bring cleats, a frisbee, and a dark and light shirt (for
pick-up scrimmage after each clinic).

Feel free to pass along the information. Everyone is
welcome!!!!! Even if you've come to clinics in the past,
it's always helpful to touch up on skills and see new
techniques we're showing this year. If you have any
questions contact me at nalan_yuksel@acdi-cida.gc.ca.

VOLUNTEERS FOR DAREDEVIL DISCS' LAYOUT FOR LIFE

In support of the Cancer Research Society.

Do you want to be a part of this tournament which helps to
raise money to support cancer research in Canada?

This tournament needs about 6 to 10 volunteers for such
activities as running the Fun Zone, Barbecuing and Pouring
Beer. What could be more fun! (note: we need a couple
people with SIPS certification to serve beer)

The tournament is May 31st at UPI, volunteers are not
expected to work the full day, but if you want to, all the
better!

For information or to volunteer please contact:
Julie Thompson - volunteer@ocua.ca

OCUA VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

OCUA is run by volunteers. Without the time put in by many
people, this league wouldn't exist. A couple hours of your
time, could make a huge difference. The following is a list
of current volunteer openings. Please refer to www.ocua.ca
(and click on the volunteer button) for details about
volunteer openings.

Current Volunteer Opportunities:

- Friday League Coaches
- Kid's League Coaches

- Daredevil Discs' Layout for Life

Please email volunteer@ocua.ca if you have any questions, or
if you are interested in helping out.

THE 2003 DAREDEVIL DISCS' LAYOUT FOR LIFE TOURNAMENT

It's that time of year again, time for Daredevil Discs'
Layout for Life Tournament to support cancer research in
Canada.

When: Saturday May 31st.
Where: UPI
Cost: $225 ($250 after May 28th)
Format: 4/3, 4 games, 3 divisions (Rec/Beginner,
Competitive, Elite)

This exciting tournament also features a Beer Garden, BBQ,
and a party that evening (details to be announced later).
Standard 'field food' will be available as well.

Last year 26 teams took part in a fun day of Ulty, BBQing
and sunshine, all in the name of a great cause: fighting
cancer. This year we hope for even more.

The Rec/Beginner Division is for teams that are
inexperienced, or want to practice certain things or just
want to take part for the spirit of the whole event.

The Competitive Division is meant for medium calibre teams
that want to play to win. This includes veteran league teams
or lower level traveling teams.

The Elite Division is reserved for the highest calibre
teams, registration in this pool will be limited.

If you are a captain, get your team out for this great
event. If you aren't the captain, register anyways or pester
your captain to - 'canweplayinlayoutforlife - please -
canweplayinlayoutforlife - please - canweplayinlayoutforlife -
please - canweplayinlayoutforlife -please please please'

Hat team(s) will be formed as well from individual
registrations.
