 CALL FOR CANDIDATES (PART II...)
=================================

The Summer season is over, but the Elections are just
beginning !

For those who were not aware, the Election process has
changed and deadlines were extended.

The Call for Candidates is Open until Midnight, Sunday (Aug
31st).

Voting will take place electronically via e-mail from Sept
15th to 29th.

======== New Process ============

New this year will be the nomination of two candidates put
forward by the OCUA Nominations Committee.

The purpose of this committee is to find people who will
best benefit the needs of OCUA. Nominees "may" be chosen
from outside the OCUA membership, but will consist of
community leaders who will help promote OCUA's presence in
both political and business circles as well as within the
greater Ottawa Community.

Candidates put forward by the nomination committee will be
announced on Monday Sept 1, and will need to be ratified
(ie. accepted) by the OCUA membership via YES/NO vote.

The remaining two OCUA Directorship positions will be open
for General Elections as in previous years.

Anyone wishing to run for one of the two Open directorship
position should contact Stephan Suys at s_suys@hotmail as
soon as possible.

The deadline is 3 days away... (Midnight, Aug 31st)

Thanks, Stephan Suys Elections Officer

SPIRIT 2003 CHARITY ULTIMATE TOURNAMENT

I would like to call your attention to a great event for you
and your team to participate in this fall. It is the Spirit
2003 Charity Ultimate Tournament. The Spirit 2003 Ultimate
Charity Tournament was created to raise funds for five local
mental health charities and to increase awareness and
sensitization about mental health conditions and the people
they affect. It is an all day event being held on September
13, 2003 at the Nepean Equestrian Park. There are some great
bonuses as well...free lunch, great entertainment, 3 to 4
games, a beer tent etc. There are even prizes for teams with
the most pledges and other incentive prizes up for grabs.
This is the first year of this event which has been
organized to become what the HOPE beach volleyball event has
become for beach volleyball but for ultimate instead. OCUA
has been working hard over the past year with this
organizing committee as the event's community partner and we
hope that you will encourage your teams to sign up and show
your support for this worthwhile event.

All the information you need can be found online at:

Come on out and enjoy the fun!

Thanks in advance for your support,
Robin Kealey
OCUA Director

BOD CHALLENGES OCUA MEMBERS...SPIRIT 2003 EVENT

Come and try to kick our butts at the Spirit 2003 Charity
Ultimate Tournament! We, your hardworking representatives on
the BoD are challenging OUCA teams to enter a team in this
outstanding event. Just go ahead and try to raise as much
cash as we will! The OCUA team that raises the most cash
will receive an OCUA gift pack of a disc and one of the hot,
new OCUA shirts for each member of the team. By the way, we
plan to take the title at the tournament too. Wait until you
see our swill...opps I mean expert throws! Ah...at least we
can slag like experts! Looking forward to seeing you on the
field!

Robin (aka scoober) Kealey

THE ULTIMATE CARD

Want to help support Canadian Ultimate?

Sign up for The Ultimate Card.

Both types of cards, platinum and preferred, carry no annual
fee, but when an Ultimate player signs up, and is accepted
for the card, a portion of their net purchase amount will be
sent back to their respective League's administration. Their
League will then decide, we hope with their members input,
how that money will be used.

The result: cardholders will be helping to build, and to
support, the Ultimate community. What better way to increase
revenues for your League than to use The Ultimate card not
only on regular, everyday purchases, but also on purchases
from Ultimate related companies and others.

We hope that you will explore this exciting fund-raising
program. For more information, as well as an online
application, please visit
www.theultimatecard.ca

volunteer openings.

Current Volunteer Opportunities:
