SATURDAY DIVISION INDOOR NEEDS PLAYERS!

There are still several places available on Saturday nights
to hone your ultimate game. The Saturday Division is run at
the Landsdowne bubble, on fieldturf (soft artificial!)
fields which are ten yards longer than those at Carleton.
This division is currently the best deal in indoor ultimate,
costing only $150 with playing time lasting 90 minutes (most
other divisions are 75). If we are unable to fill this
division, then OCUA will have to consider handing it back.
So if you are looking for something to do on a Saturday
night please sign up. If you would like to come out and see
what this is like, drops in are welcome until further
notice. Cost for drop ins is $10 each per game.

OCUA VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

OCUA is run by volunteers. Without the time put in by many
people, this league wouldn't exist. A couple hours of your
time, could make a huge difference. The following is a list
of current volunteer openings. Please refer to
http://www.ocua.ca/ocua/volunteer.html for details about
volunteer openings.

Current Volunteer Opportunities:

- Field Cell Volunteers
- Media Watchers

Please email volunteer@ocua.ca if you have any questions, or
if you are interested in helping out.

Thanks,
Julie Thompson
OCUA Volunteer Coordinator

NOMINATION FOR OTTAWA CENTRE

On Tuesday, November 18th I became a candidate for
nomination in the Ottawa Centre federal Liberal riding.

On December 1st the Ottawa Centre Liberal riding association
will select its candidate for the next federal election. I
want to be that candidate.

WHO AM I?
I hope you will take the time to look at my website
(http://members.rogers.com/mcmillancampaign) and to contact
me directly if you have questions about what I believe and
what I plan to do for Ottawa Centre.

Specific to Ultimate I believe that it is in our
communities' interest to promote recreational activities
close to home. I intend to work to ensure that recreation
planning becomes an important component of Paul Martin's
promised agenda of enhanced federal-municipal cooperation.

I am a recent recruit to the Liberal party and, although I
am ideologically a Liberal, have never been a young Liberal,
policy adviser, or otherwise involved in the Riding
Association until this time. My perspective on partisan
politics is an outsider's. I believe this riding deserves a
candidate with integrity, convictions, and passion about
issues. I believe that both my professional experience and
my volunteer and community commitments qualify me to meet
the demands of this role.

JOIN THE RIDING ASSOCIATION:
If you live in Ottawa Centre, I ask you to become a member
of the Liberal Party immediately. (To be eligible to vote
for a candidate all new memberships must be registered by
Monday, November 24th.) If you're not sure which riding
you're in, you can consult http://www.liberal.ca/lpc/ (in
the lower left-hand corner is a riding location tool).

You can purchase Liberal memberships from me directly for
$10 - this will entitle you to vote at the nomination
meeting, but your form must be completed and received by
November 24th. To get a form (paper only alas poor earth
:-)) contact me at mcmillancampaign@rogers.com.

NOMINATION MEETING:
As important as registering to the Liberal party is coming
out to the election on December 1st. The meeting will be
held at 6:00 p.m. at the Adult High School on 300 Rochester
Street. Voting for Riding Association Members will begin
after 6:30 p.m.

In addition to signing people up I will need help with
entering riding members' data so if you have Excel and a
couple of hours that would help too...

I hope you will see this as an opportunity to get involved
in the candidate selection process. I am excited to be in
this new environment too. (I will deliver my first ever
political speech on Saturday :-).)

Thank you to many of you for your help so far. Let's have
some fun getting to the next stage!

Centre
