REMINDER - OCUA SUMMER LEAGUE REGISTRATION DEADLINES

Summer league registration is now open, and will follow a
similar format to previous years. There will be 80 teams on
each of Monday to Thursday evenings and 40 on Friday. A
letter has been sent to all of the 2003 captains with more
information. Returning teams will have until March 15, 2004
to pay a $250 deposit in order to secure their spot on their
night of play. The balance of the team fees will be due at
the 2004 AGM and Captains Meeting on April 15, 2004.

New teams will have until April 1, 2004 to enter their
registration, again with a $250 deposit. Please note that
all new teams are obliged to start playing on Friday
evenings. Space availability on Monday to Thursday evenings
will go first to returning Friday teams that wish to move,
and then to the new teams.

Registration forms for new and returning teams are available
for download.

LEAGUERUNNER SPRING CLEANING

Once a year, in the spring, OCUA will be requiring players
to log in and verify all the information in their account.
This is necessary both to ensure that we have up-to-date
contact info, and to ensure that you have full control over
your information.

When you next log in to Leaguerunner, you will be asked to
reconfirm all of your contact information, and accept the
same waivers as last year. Please be sure that the street
address, email address, and telephone contacts are correct.
We've provided some better guidelines for choosing skill
level this year as well, in attempt to get a more accurate
seeding of teams, so please reassess your skill rating with
this in mind.

If you have forgotten your Leaguerunner password, you should
use the "Forgot your password" functionality at

   http://www.ocua.ca/leaguerunner/person/forgotpassword

to request a new password.

OCUA IS LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEER COACHES AND ADMINISTRATORS

OCUA will be looking to expand its kids ultimate this coming
summer. We need to overcome the perception that ultimate is
some kind of adults only niche sport, so we want to get
ultimate into as many neighbourhoods as we can. We are
looking for adult players that would like to start kids
programs in their own part of town. We are looking for high
school student players who would like to help coach kids in
their neighbourhoods to satisfy their 40 hour curriculum
volunteer hours requirement. We are looking for the space to
run these programs on. While we have some sites currently in
mind, we will need more. OCUA has a four field site for the
Orleans area, we will use the fields at Lynda Lane once a
week for the Center town area, a field at the Terry Fox
athletic facility, one at Fisher Park School, and we are
still looking for fields in the west end.

This has become one of the most important issues facing the
Association. If you would like to help in any way please
contact me, gm@ocua.ca

UPI SHARE DONATION

In an effort to set the budget for this coming year, I would
like to know if any of the UPI shareholders are
contemplating donating their shares to OCUA. If you are a
shareholder, either as an individual or team share and you
wish to donate your share/s to OCUA can you please let me
know and I will send you the necessary paperwork. Please
drop me an e-mail at gm@ocua.ca

PEOPLE SERVICES "SPORTSFIELD STRATEGY"

The long awaited City of Ottawa Sportsfield Strategy has
finally been released. Please take the time to give it a
good look over and provide your input. I for one was
disappointed in the report, but I will review your comments
carefully when speaking with the City.
