- A great cheer you heard
- A great play
- Something you have always wanted to say about Ultimate
- Anything related to Ultimate

MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY SPORTS FESTIVAL:

The 'Muscular Dystrophy Assoc. of Canada', 'The Coliseum
Sports Facility' 'Starter' and 'Umbro' are pleased to
announce the first and will be annual 'MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY
SPORTS FESTIVAL'. June 12-14,1998.

With the great success of the 'HOPE VOLLEYBALL' the MSDF is
hopeing to have the same with 5 different sports:
- ULTIMATE FRISBEE
- 3 on 3 BASKETBALL
- TOUCH FOOTBALL
- SOCCER
- BALL HOCKEY

All five of these sports are treated as separate entities
i.e. you may enter only one team in one sport. But enough
about those other sports lets talk about ULTIMATE...

The 'Ultimate' portion of this festival is open to the first
16 teams that apply. There is a $150. entry fee with proceeds
going to 'MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY ASSOC. OF CANADA'. All teams are
guaranteed at least four games over the course of the weekend
with the Finals to be filmed by ROGERS CABLE and played at
Lansdowne Park (Yes, on that artificial turf... ouch!!!)
However, not all games will be @ Lansdowne, portions of the
tournament will be played at 'St. Pauls' and 'Lynda Lane'
fields. Those other sports will be played in and around the
Lansdowne stadium/area. The schedule will be relaxed.

A few notes:
- The gender ratio will be 4/3.
- Open to ALL teams.( First come , first serve)
- Prizes to be given away by 'STARTER' and 'UMBRO'.
- Prizes for best 'SPIRIT OF THE GAME'

TEAMS LOOKING FOR PLAYERS:

A number of girls who originally intended to play on our
team have had a change of heart, while a number of others
are unavailable or on holiday for the next couple of weeks.

Are there any women who might be interested in playing on a
team with a good attitude, and a mediocre skill-set? New
players would definitely be welcome.

Thanks

PLAYERS LOOKING FOR TEAMS:

I have played Ultimate at university in Georgia so it's not
new to me and I like competitive, yet fun. I'd be interested
in co-ed and men's. But I guess it's wherever a player is
needed. I'm a soccer player first, but taking a break from
that this year.

If you could help me out I'd be most grateful. My number is
829-9502. e-mail:andrew.hansen@sympatico.ca.

ANYONE WANT TO GO BIKING THIS FRIDAY?:

Anyone who would like to go mountain biking this Friday May
29 is more than welcome to join in a group that will be
leaving from the Camp Fortune parking area (it may be closed
so we park on the road there).

We will meet at 6:30 and be off around 6:45 all ages and
abilities welcome. It will be my first ride of the season so
don't worry. Anyone is welcome as a group or a single and
don't worry if you don't know anyone 'cause neither will I.

If you want any more info contact Doug Tahirali at
dougtah@achilles.net

CONTACT FOR ULTIMATE IN MOSCOW:

I'm in Moscow, in a state of Ultimate deprivation. If by any
chance you know of any other Ultimate players who happen to
be in the Ultimate wastelands of Moscow, could you give me
their co-ordinates?

Thanks

CLEATS AT 15 PERCENT DISCOUNT:

I was at "The Ultimate Soccer Shop" formerly "The Soccer
Shop" buying cleats. The owner, Mike, is really interested
in Ultimate (hence the change in name) and is offering a 15%
discount to all Ultimate players when buying cleats or
anything else in the store!! One just has to identify
themselves as an Ultimate Player to get the discount.

The store is at 5350 Canotek Road, unit 1. That's at HW 17
and the Montreal Road exit (Montreal Rd to Shefford to
Canotek).

Thanks
Gwen Prillo

MIKE'S COMMENT:

Well it's been a while since I had any comments - yeah right!

Anyway I want to talk about advertising in Ultimate
Happenings. In the last post I had what I consider the first
real advert. I wasn't sure if it really belonged here but I
let it go because I wasn't sure what the reaction would be.
I haven't received too many negative comments since then but
I have had a chance to think about it some more and would
like to state my policy for all future submissions.

So far I have never refused to put any articles in UH, I have
lost or forgotten some, but have never refused. From now on
I do reserve the right to not include what I consider to be
obvious advertising. I do not want this e-mail thing to
become clogged with advertising. I hate spam and do not want
to inflict it on others.

This new policy will start as of the next issue.

Thanks
Mike
