MOTHRA TRY-OUTS:

Team Mothra, Ottawa's *FUN* Men's Competitive Ultimate Team,
Announces TRYOUTS!

.-.-.-.-.-.
FEARSOME MOTH MONSTER TO STRIKE AGAIN THIS SUMMER (DP)

Disassociated Press has learned from sources in national security
circles today that the 20,000-ton radioactive ULTIMATE monster
that severely devastated US and Canadian cities last year is
expected to strike again.

Experts are predicting that the infamous Mothra - the mutant
moth arch-rival of Godzilla - will be much stronger this year.
Early seismological readings of the larval-stage monster, now
metamorphasizing somewhere in the bowels of the Ottawa sewer
system, indicate that the 1999 Mothra will be wielding new
supernatural powers when it emerges this May.
.-.-.-.-.-.

Team Mothra will be holding try-outs Tues May 4 (6pm), Thurs
May 6 (6pm), and Sun May 9 (1pm) at the Experimental Farm near
the Observatory. Headed by veteran competitive coaches Keith
Whyte and Steve MacNeil, the revamped Team Mothra will be
hitting 8 tournaments in the US and Canada, and expect to
emerge as a strong competitor this season. We will be practicing
twice a week in addition to tournaments.

If you're an A or B league player looking for a serious
competitive team that has World-Class Spirit (TM), come try
out! Please bring your cleats and a sense of humour.

NOTE: Team Mothra would also like to officially confirm that
it did NOT play the last point of '98 Nationals naked, contrary
to rampant speculation. Several blurred photographs have been
circulating but we would like to assure the Ottawa Ultimate
community that they are clever, anatomically-correct fakes
from Loch Ness.

STELLA/WAX DEMO:

Come on out to Manotick to see Stella/Wax do an Ultimate demo
on Saturday May 1st.

Larry Pegg has organized an Ultimate demo for Saturday May 1
at the Manotick Trade Show being held at the Manotick arena
west of the Manotick Mews plaza and beer store.

Larry's company Ecoview was invited to provide all natural/
organic turf grass management seminars to the folks in Manotick.
Their invitation came about due to their interest in the Ultimate
Sports Park being developed for OCUA by Ecoview. In particular,
they are interested in the all natural turf grass research
being conducted at the Sports Park.

The township of Rideau has adopted a phase out policy for
pesticide use and want support in educating the public on
sustainable lawn care. Here's a great opportunity to create
more awareness of our sport, to show the public that Ultimate
players are concerned about the environment and to promote
our new facility to neighboring Manotick and media.

Stella is providing the demo for the first 1/2 then a coed
2nd 1/2 featuring Wax guys and Stella.

We can also create awareness about the upcoming No Borders
and Nationals. Any ideas? Email lpegg@ecoview.com.

1999 VOODOO LOVEDOLLS TRYOUTS:

Voodoo Lovedolls Open Competitive Team
http://www.ocua.ca/Competitive/Voodoo/

Voodoo is back for another season, the 13th of a long and
storied lineage, beginning as Rays`n'Terrain in 1987. To give
yo a bit of a history lesson (please yawn now), we then moved
on as Roadkill Restaurant from 1989-1992, Grope of Seven in
1993, Mufferaw Joe in 1994, and finally, Voodoo Lovedolls in
1995.

This year, we're looking to rebuild around our returning
veterans, focusing on competitive ultimate while still aiming
for a lot of fun. We're looking at a 6 tournament schedule
(Toronto, Hanover, Rochester, Montreal, Ottawa, & Nationals),
as well as our ever-popular trip to Poultry Days as a
relaxation-type tournament. We definitely have some openings
this year, and so if your interested in traveling this summer,
feel free to contact us. Tryouts are currently scheduled as
follows, weather permitting:

Thursday, April 29, 6:00pm &
Sunday, May 2, 1:00pm

Both tryouts will be held at Jacques Cartier Park - check out
the website if you need directions to the fields. If you do
intend to try out, please contact me if you can, so that we
can get an idea of possible numbers. Thanks, and hope to see
you on the fields!

Cheers!
