AN ULTIMATE VISA CARD?

Possibly. We are working on a development plan with Royal Bank
Visa Affinity program to launch a credit card associated with
OCUA. You've probably seen these cards before (eg. university
or charities) and are somewhat familiar with them. Should this
plan materialize it will offer value for you and OCUA. It's a
great way for the league to raise revenue while at the same
time provide a benefit to players directly.

We Need Your Input to Make This Happen.

By showing your interest in receiving a new Ultimate credit
card OR transferring an existing card to an OCUA card we can
start the process of implementation now. We need to show Visa
that at least 500 people are interested in obtaining the card.
After this point Visa will help in marketing and launching the
program. By providing us with some information it will greatly
help us in the marketing efforts. Simply go to the following
web page (http://www.ocua.ca/visa/visa.htm) and complete the
form, that's it. We will keep you up to date as the process
evolves.

All information received will be kept by OCUA and will only
be released to the Royal Bank if we determine that we have
enough interest to proceed.

What's in it for You?

You get to show your support of the sport of Ultimate every
time you use your card while at the same time utilizing the
benefits of a Royal Bank Visa card. This card will not only
display our own personalized Ultimate logo but will also
provide a number of other benefits associated with Visa. This
is all at no cost to you (ie. NO ANNUAL FEES).

What's in it for OCUA?

OCUA will receive a payment from Visa for every purchase made
on every card! By simply using your card as you would normally
do the league makes money. There are other financial benefits
for the league as well.

THIS IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY! PLEASE SHOW YOUR INTEREST ASAP
AND THANX. Any questions please call Gordon Neufeld, Royal
Bank, (613) 290-6749.

NORTEL FIELDS - UPDATE:

I just thought I would give all of you the scoop on these
fields. These fields were found for us by Karen Lange Last
June, however when I looked at them then they were unplayable
due to the irregular surface which could not be amended because
of the time of the year.

This spring I contacted Petersen's Turf Farm and while the
ground was still wet and soft I had the site rolled. There was
still snow covering the North-East corner, but it was determined
that it was better to roll the rest while it was going to do the
most good, rather than wait until that one area was ready and
have the rest of the site too dry. The rolling was done and
there was a marked improvement, so the fields were put into use.

As to what happened next, I have no idea, but the surface is back
to being dangerous and these fields are now offline. I have
contacted Petersen's again and was planning to have them back to
do more work, but I wanted the grass to be cut so I could better
determine what was causing the problem. I called the Property
Manager (this is not Nortel) to inquire as to when they would
start cutting and if I could have Petersen's do the first one.

It was then that he told me that Petersen's could not do it, that
they had no plans to cut anytime soon and that the extra charges
for keeping the grass in our playing area the same length as the
perimeter would be $6,000!

Petersen's had agreed to cut this site on a need to do basis @
$200 a pop, with a maximum of 13 cuttings, this would have been
$2,600. I have called my Nortel contact to say that we just can't
afford these charges especially given the surface problems.

There will be an effort to reschedule the games that were on
these fields.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

DEVELOPMENTAL LEAGUE INFO:

I've worked out the schedule for the summer and it looks like
we can get five dates for the Developmental League. The first
date is changed from my original post in March. The format
will be clinic/open pick-up. The clinic portion will be run
by myself, other waX players, and other competitive players.
The pick-up game will start right after the clinic and will
have veteran and new players involved. Feel free to show up
to both or one of the clinic and pick-up game. Many of you
have replied to me already about attending, but I need everyone
to respond again to get an idea of numbers for the first date.
Let me know which portion(s) of the day you will be attending.
Field location and time will be decided closer to the first date.

Dates:
Sunday, May 30
Sunday, June 13
Sunday, June 27
Sunday, July 11
Sunday, August 8

Thanks,

Fadi

THANK YOU - STELLA AND WAX

I'd just like to thank the Stella and Wax players that came
out on May 1 to put on an Ultimate demo at the Manotick Trade
Show. Sorry that the Trade show turn out sucked.

I hope your hand is doing better Jo.

The highlight for me was when I put on a real Wax jersey and
played a point. I'll always cherish that moment.

Hey, do you need a Waterboy? With Nationals coming and all,
maybe I can show ya how to open up a, open up a can of "Whoop
Ass". But, please don't tell my mamma I play Ultimate.
