QUESTION ABOUT FUND RAISING EFFORTS:

Hi,

As president of the league I would like to hear people's
opinion about fund raising for OCUA.

Currently our main source of funding is through team fees. We
always continue to look at other avenues of income that could
offset or supplement this in the future.

This kind of thing takes a lot of time. As an example the
following is currently on our burner:
- Sponsorship for our new fields at Manotick Station
- Field rental of these fields for Nationals and other events.
- The VISA affinity card program.
- Sponsored tourneys such as the Cisco Corporate Challenge.
- etc.

My question is that when I see only 3% of our league show any
interest in an ongoing idea (the VISA promotion) I do not know
what to think. Questions that run through my mind are:
- Maybe everyone just wants to pay team fees and isn't really
  interested in anything else?
- Maybe the VISA program (for example) was not explained well
  enough?
- Maybe people are interested but just have not yet acted on
  that interest?

Help me out here. What is your take on this situation?

Thanks

FRIDAY NIGHT MASTER'S DIVISION:

All Master's players (ie: anyone who will be 30 or over anytime
in 1999) are invited to come out for pickup this Friday, May
21 at Lynda Lane. Please bring a light and a dark shirt.

Any Master's player who is interested in playing on a semi-
regular or better basis, please phone or email Craig Fielding
at 729-8715 or cfielding@cyberus.ca.

SOD FARM NOTES:

1) Once again we feel it is necessary to explain that no one
should be parking on Spratt road. This kind of thing will
causes the neighbors to dislike us and will make it much
more difficult (if not impossible) to renew our zoning
in the future. IF THIS CONTINUES WE MAY LOSE THE SITE.

Captains please make sure your team knows about this.

I have seen the following Ontario cars parked on the
road recently: 943 VHJ, 126 RME, 342 VAK. There were
also about 8 cars there on Monday evening and I hear
   about 15 there Wednesday evening.

If parking on the road continues to be a problem we
may have to resort to more drastic measures such as
towing cars. Please police yourselves I really do not
want to have to go any further.

2) The combination to the gate (if it is locked when you
get there) is "0 - 6 - 28". If you are the first person
there open it up so people are not tempted to park on
   the road.

If you are the last one to leave at night please close
and lock the gate after you.

RAIN AND THE FIELDS:

Since today is going to be the first real rainy day of the
season I thought I should pass on the following notes.

1) GAMES AT ST. PAUL'S ARE CANCELED. They can either be
postponed to another day or moved to the Nortel fields.
The management at St. Paul's does not want us playing on
these fields if they are wet. Contact Jack Webb (231-6530)
   to organize this.

2) At all other fields please use your judgment. If the fields
are too wet and your play is causing damage then stop the
game and play it again at another time.

3) Remember the lightning rule.

LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS FOR ULTIMATE WORKSHOP:

I am a parent at Ottawa Montessori School. There are 400 kids
at the school ranging in age from 3 to 14. I am organizing a
walk/run...and picnic for the school on Sunday June 6 (raindate
June 12) at Vincent Massey Park. The Walk will be followed by
a picnic in the afternoon with games and sports beginning
about 12:30 hopefully.

I thought Ultimate would be a great activity for the older
kids at the picnic.

I was wondering if someone from your association might be
available to give a workshop on the afternoon of the 6th
(12th - raindate). I can be reached at 7302223 if you wish to
discuss this in person.

Sincerely,
Margaret Hill

TEAM ROSTER DEADLINE EXTENDED TO MAY 29:

URL:
http://www.ocua.ca/registration/start.htm

Since the website was down yesterday and since the on-line
form was a week late I have been convinced to extend the
deadline for roster submission by a week.

Captains please make an effort to meet this deadline. We will
be able to start work on the league phone book and membership
cards if all of the information is in by that time.

Remember all information entered is used only by the league
and will never be given away or sold for any purpose.
