VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR LIGHT WORK AT OUR NEW SITE THIS SATURDAY:

This Saturday, May 29th, starting around 10:30

We're doing some work at our new Ultimate Site on Manotick
Station Rd. Drop by anytime and check our future home!

The grass is growing, the parking lot is built, the irrigation
system is doing a job, but......

There's still a lot of things to do! There's brush to cut up
and pile, scrap metal to be thrown in a dumpster, topsoil to
be shoveled into small eroded areas..... All kinds of stuff
that we can do for ourselves!

Bring work gloves, gardening tools (shovels, saws, pruning
shears and wheel barrows if you can), and a friend!

If you haven't seen the place (or if you haven't seen it since
last year), do yourself a favor and come check it out. It is
beautiful!

This Saturday.... 10:30 am until whenever. There might even be
some pints and pizza in it for ya!

Many hands make light work! (Thanks Mom)

SPRING TUNE-UP TOURNEY:

How many of you have ever played in an Ultimate tournament
before? If you have, you know how much fun they are, pushing
your body to the limit as you play 3 or more games in one day,
and how effective they are, being able to play a game right
after realizing some improvements you could make from the
game before.

If you've never played in an Ultimate tournament before, here's
your chance. All 4/3 City League teams are invited to the 3rd
Annual Spring Tune-Up, June 12th at the Sod Farm from 9 am to
4 pm. The tourney fee is $75 per team, and this includes typical
tournament fare (bagels, bananas, oranges, etc.) prizes for
the winners and for the most spirited players on each team.
Note: 5/2 teams are welcome, but if we don't get enough or an
even number of 5/2 teams, 4/3 is the standard format.

We run this tourney for 3 reasons. First, to give all Ultimate
players an opportunity to play in a tournament, and truly fall
in love with the game. Second, to help improve the quality of
play in City League. Third, to help improve the Spirit in City
League.

The latter two objectives are aided by "coaches". These are
players who have been playing Ultimate for over 5 years, and
who know a lot about the strategy, rules, and spirit of Ultimate.
One coach is assigned to each team, and works with the Team
Captain to help the team improve in all areas of the game.

Teams of all skill levels are welcome. Teams will be put in
tiers of 4, at their appropriate level, and play a minimum of
3 games. This is primarily for City League TEAMS, but if 2 or
3 teams want to get together to form one team, due to numbers
available for that day, they are more than welcome.

Registration Deadline is June 9th. Visit our website at
http://www.cyberus.ca/ocua/tournaments/tuneup/tuneup.html
It should be updated shortly :-)

This year, there will be a rockin' party at the Duke of Somerset
after the tourney, to give a full tournament flavor. Our very
own Dave Brown and his band The Publicans will be on hand to
provide music, and welcome other bands to the stage. It should
be an awesome party after a great tourney.

UPA ULTIMATE AD IN SPORTS ILLUSTRATED:

The UPA put an ad in the Colorado regional version of Sports
Illustrated for the College National Championships this weekend.
Check it out - it looks sweet.

Too bad it wasn't in all SI's rather than just that one.

MISSING PHOTO ALBUM:

Can anyone help me find my WORLDS '98 PHOTO ALBUM. It has a
maroon cover, with black binding, and a maple leaf on the front.
It's about 30 pages. My name is on the back cover.

I can't remember who borrowed it, or where it might be.
Thanks
