Learn to Play 2010

OCUA is proud to offer the Learn to Play Program for a fourth year with four sessions offered at two different indoor venues. Beginner and Sophomore sessions will run Monday nights at the Hornets Nest SuperDome (East) and on Thursday nights at the Ben Franklin SuperDome (West). All sessions are co-ed and will run for 4 weeks in April.

Beginner: For very new players who want to learn the game from the ground up. The first clinic of the Beginner sessions will consist of two hours of instruction, after which each two-hour clinic will be broken up into one hour of instruction and drills and one hour of scrimmage.

Sophomore: For those who have played 1 or 2 years and want some help getting out of the 'rookie' category. For the Sophomore sessions, each clinic will have one hour of coaching followed by one hour of scrimmage.

Session Outline
Beginner:
Week 1) What is Ultimate and why is it so awesome? Basic rules, throwing, catching, the force.
Week 2) Review of throwing, proper defending, cutting, the stack.
Week 3) Review of throwing, resetting the disc, basic plays.
Week 4) Review of throwing, reading the field, rules review.

Sophomore:
Week 1) Throwing, advanced concepts in defending.
Week 2) Review of throwing, setting plays, rules review.
Week 3) Review of throwing, zone offense/defense.
Week 4) Review of throwing, reading the field, advancing in Ultimate.

All lessons will include resource material for review.

East End: Gloucester ThunderDome: Mondays April 5,12,19,26: 7-9pm Beginner; 9-11pm Sophomore
West End: Ben Franklin SuperDome: Thursdays April 8,15,22,29: 7-9pm Beginner; 9-11pm Sophomore

Cost: $80 including G.S.T. Cheques should be made out to OCUA.
