Program Officer position

The Ottawa Carleton Ultimate Association (OCUA), founded in 1986 and now one of the largest Ultimate leagues in the world, is looking for an energetic, self-starter to fill the role of Program Officer. The Program Officer has the lead responsibility for the creation, marketing, preparation and operations of leagues, clinics, tournaments and other ultimate programs. The successful candidate will report to the Executive Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Program Officer has the following responsibilities:

  • Creation, marketing, preparation and operations of leagues, clinics, tournaments and other ultimate programs
  • Communication with current and potential members in a timely and professional manner
  • Recruitment, training and support of volunteers for key operational positions, such as coordinators and coaches
  • Development, operations and marketing of youth and junior programs
  • Assistance with financial management, including helping to prepare the annual budget and ensuring that accounts are paid, and transactions recorded
  • Website content management, in conjunction with Web Team
  • Other tasks, as identified by the Executive Director

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will possess the following mandatory qualifications:

  • Degree and/or or several years experience in sports administration, or similar discipline
  • Demonstrated team-building and leadership skills
  • Ability to organize work and to multitask
  • Focus on details and adopt a professional attitude at all time
  • Ability to work independently
  • Access to an automobile
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills and instincts
  • A high level of comfort with office computing and Internet technologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adapt to a flexible work schedule including some evenings and weekends as required

The following assets are considered desirable:

  • Experience working with OCUA as a league volunteer
  • Experience in working with youth programs in a community sporting organization
  • Knowledge of working in a not-for-profit sports organization reliant on volunteerism
  • The ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in both official languages
  • Experience managing all aspects of a modern, full-featured Web site

TYPE OF POSITION: Full-time employee

SALARY RANGE: $36,000 - $40,000, with benefits
