Youth Ultimate Challenge Cup

YUCC Game wil air on Rogers TV (Channel 22) Friday September 5th at 12:00pm!

On Tuesday, August 26th, the OCUA Youth Ultimate program took centre stage, where the inaugural Youth Ultimate Challenge Cup (YUCC) exhibition game took place on the showcase field at UPI (Ultimate Parks Incorporated) in Manotick.

In front of a large and supportive crowd of parents, siblings, extended family, friends and fans, the 32 Youth players (aged 10-13) on Team Inferno (Red) and Team Tsunami (Blue) played an exciting and wide-open game, featuring hucks, dives, big plays, hard running, sharp cuts, high-fives and smiles. Despite the breezy game conditions, the crowd was extremely impressed by the level of skill, commitment and ability these young players demonstrated - from the initial disc flip to the final whistle.

An added bonus to the game was Rogers Television was on-hand to film the action, along with colour commentators and play-by-play announcers to oversee the action. The broadcast date of the Youth Ultimate Challenge Cup is scheduled for Friday, September 5th on Channel 22 at noon. Be sure to check it out!

The Youth Ultimate Challenge Cup (YUCC) is an event that we started this year as a showcase for Youth Ultimate in Ottawa. It will be held annually at the end of each summer season. The YUCC provides players in the OCUA Youth league an opportunity to play in a televised game (Rogers TV) to promote the growth, development and exposure of our sport to a broader audience.

The inaugural YUCC will be held at UPI next Tuesday, August 26th, with the game starting at 6pm. There will be about 30 participants between the ages of 10 and 13 competing for Ultimate immortality and having a great time doing it!! I'd like to invite you to join us for the event, bring out the kids (young and old), and let's support these young Ultimate players as they embark on their playing careers.

Check them out now before they get drafting by the professionals!!
