2001 SUMMER REGISTRATION REMINDER / UPDATE
Just a reminder that the deadline for returning teams to
preregister to automatically retain their spot in the league
is MARCH 15. That is 3 WEEKS away. Your preregistration must
be RECEIVED (not postmarked) by that date.
Response so far has been positive, but we still have quite a
way to go. If at all possible, please register sooner, rather
than later, as we don't want to have to deal with 100
registrations all coming in on the last day. Here are the
numbers we have as of Feb 21st:
Night: Returning Teams Registered / Night Maximum
Mon: 23/88
Tue: 23/80
Wed: 17/88
Thu W: 3/32
Thu C: 2/32
Thu M: 0/8
New Team Waiting List: 7 teams
1st choice Mon: 1
1st choice Tue: 0
1st choice Wed: 2
1st choice Thu: 5
Women's: 1
There has been some confusion as to how the waiting list
works. The key thing to remember is that there aren't
actually separate lists for each night, there is only one
overall queue, ordered by the date of preregistration.
Regardless of what your choices are, if you are not a
returning team, or if you are a returning team that registers
after the March 15 deadline, you are put in THE queue. We
then work down this list one team at a time, attempting to
place them within the various divisions according to their
preferences. If the first team on the list chooses Monday 1st,
but Monday is full, then we look at their second choice. If
we can accommodate them there, great, if not we look at their
third choice. In any case, we deal with that team first, and
then move on to the next one. So in other words, your
position in the queue is more important than the order of
your night selections.
It is important to note that if you are a returning team who
does not preregister before March 15, then when you finally
do preregister you go in the same list as everyone else,
BASED ON WHEN YOUR PREREGISTRATION IS RECEIVED. Hence, you
will be behind any new teams that have already registered,
and MAY NOT GET IN THE LEAGUE. So get those registrations in,
and help not only the league, but yourselves too! :)

DISC DESIGN CONTEST UPDATE
Due to the fact that we were unable to get the information
out regarding the Disc Design contest as early as we would
have liked, we realized after publication that this only gave
people a week to come up with something, which was somewhat
unreasonable. As such the deadline has been extended to:
11:59PM Sunday, March 4
Check the Ultimate Happenings Issue 158 for details regarding
submission requirements (available in the Ultimate Happenings
archive on the website, www.ocua.ca). For more info, contact
president@ocua.ca.

NEW ASSOCIATION TO SERVE MOUNTAIN BIKE RIDERS
The NCMBA is a new social-profit organization who's mission
is to promote sustainable trail access for Mountain Bike
riders.
This coming season promises to be an exciting one for the
NCMBA and mountain bike riders in the capital region as we
unroll our first plan of activities and events for the 2001
season. Some of the highlights of planned events are:
· Kick off party at camp fortune in early spring
· Advocay work focusing on access and trail maintenance in
both Gatineau Park and Kanata Lakes
· Mountain Bike Patrol for Gatineau Park and Kanata Lakes
· Regular "how-to" clinics throughout the season
· Workshops on trail use issues
· Organized trips and rides
We're now online! Check out our new web site at
www.NCMBA.com. The site will continue to grow as the season
approaches, so check it frequently for updates. Be sure to
fill out our questionnaire in the "Get Involved" area, not
only to get on our mailing list and stay up to date on
developments, but also to provide the stats we'll need in our
advocacy work.
We're just finalizing our incorporation, and will be ready to
offer memberships starting in April. Several membership
options will be available to meet your needs (individual,
family, student, or corporate). More information will follow
as our incorporation is completed.
We look forward to serving you, and indeed the entire
Mountain Bike Community
