more ultimate fields
To celebrate the growing demand for healthy solutions to
transportation issues in Ottawa, Citizens for Healthy
Communities has organized:

Association) presenting the possible impacts of a roadway
solution in the Alta Vista Corridor; Tim Sookocheff
(Citizens for Healthy Communities), describing the myths
about roads and rail; and David Jeanes (President, Transport

CHEO CARDIAC SURGERY UNIT
------------------------------------------------------------
While OCUA doesn't normally do this, we have agreed to send
the following request to our UH members because it comes
from long time member of our family, and goes right to the
'heart' of our community. If you feel this is important,
please take the time to sign the petition; if not just
ignore. Thank you, Nick Roberts, OCUA GM.
------------------------------------------------------------
Hi all,
Recent news about the closure of CHEO's cardiac surgery unit
has hit very close to home and we are asking for your
support in helping to get this decision reversed.
In 1992, our eldest daughter (Gillian) was born with a heart
defect. At 4 months of age and a whooping 9 pounds, she
underwent open heart surgery at CHEO.
The whole experience was a little overwhelming for all of
us... However, we will be eternally grateful for the
excellent care she received from the entire surgical staff.
I must admit we took it for granted that the surgery could
be done in Ottawa. I cannot imagine the extra stress that
would have come from having to go to Toronto for the
procedure, not to mention the added risks to Gillian that
may have resulted.
Please join us in supporting the cause of keeping the
cardiac surgery unit at CHEO alive by signing the electronic
petition at:
http://www.strata.ca/hearts/petition.html
Thanks
Mo & Tim Brown
ps: for those who don't know, Gillian is 100% perfectly
healthy today, playing in the Junior Ultimate program, and
having a completely NORMAL kid's life...
