OCUA SUMMER LEAGUE FINALS
Well the end of another Summer League is upon us. The OCUA
will be hosting the second half of its annual Finals
Tournament this weekend:
Tuesday Finals Saturday, Sept. 14th
Thursday Finals Sunday, Sept. 15th
League coordinators will be providing details of the
schedules for each day. With the late start to the
tournament this year, the later time slots may run into
problems with light conditions if games do not start on
time. Please make an effort to start your games on time and
finish them on time. A horn will be sounded at the start and
end of each round, but as most of you are aware this may not
be heard clearly at the fields farther from the clubhouse
rise. Captains should still agree to a time piece at the
start of every game and use it in case the horn isn't heard.
As in past years, parking will be an issue. A shuttle will
be running between St. Mark's and UPI for these days.
Parking at UPI will be charged according to a sliding scale
to encourage car pooling.
1 person - $4
2 people - $3
3 people - $2
4 people - free
1 person in a two seater vehicle - $2
2 people in a two seater vehicle - free
We will again have beer and a BBQ available after 11am on
the Saturday and after noon on the Sunday. All proceeds from
beer, food and parking will be donated to Friends of
Abandoned Pets, a local charity that rescues neglected and
abused animals and places them with foster homes until
permanent adoptions can be arranged.
--- FOLLOW-UP ARTICLE: ---
We've done a bit of re-evaluation of the parking after last
weekend and have decided to make a couple of changes for
this coming weekend.
First, the shuttle service to St. Mark's will be extended to
the Thursday playoffs on Sunday the 15th. I think the number
of teams that will be playing warrants this. So let your
team mates know that this service will be available and
encourage them to use it.
Second, due to a huge problem with players parking on the
road this past Sunday, we're trying to make arrangements
with the city to drop off the temporary No Parking signs
that were used during Nationals. This will probably mean
that by-law officers will be by to ticket anyone ignoring
those signs. Parking on the road created safety issues for
our shuttle drivers as well as other motorists and may also
be annoying our neighbors.
Finally, please be courteous to the Friends of Abandoned
Pets volunteers in the parking lot. They were the target of
many undeserved hostilities this past weekend with players
who complained about paying for parking. These volunteers
are not Ultimate players and don't deserve to be treated
badly. We would appreciate it if players could keep their
tongues in check.

PLAYOFF ELIGIBILITY
Please note that to play with any team in the OCUA finals
you must have played at least five regular season games with
that team, be a registered player on that team (as per the
online system) and registered on only one team per night.
Captains should be aware of any tier/division specific
changes that were introduced at the captains meeting.
Captains who wish to enforce the eligibility rules are
advised to print out the rosters of the other teams in their
pools from the online system. The system has been locked out
to prevent any last minute additions.
