SPECIAL ISSUE: OCUA WINTER INDOOR 2003-2004
This year's Winter Indoor is almost upon us! OCUA has been
able to secure more field time both at the Landsdowne Park
Bubble facility and at the Carleton Fieldhouse. This
enables us to offer players a variety of nights and options
that are outlined below. Players should be aware that the
rental rates at the Bubble have increased and as such
player fees are higher than last year. That is beyond our
control and fees have been kept as low as possible.

General Registration Information
--------------------------------
- Online registration will begin on October 22nd at 9am and
end on October 28th at midnight. Go to www.ocua.ca. Log
into Leaguerunner and click on "Register for Winter League".
Follow the instructions on the screen. Incomplete
submissions will not be accepted. Registration will not
be accepted via mail or e-mail.
- Competitive and Advanced are mutually exclusive, meaning a
player cannot play in both of these divisions. If players
are attempting to register for the Competitive division,
they are also encouraged to register for the Advanced
division at the same time (if they so desire). If they are
selected for the Competitive division, their name will be
removed from the Advanced list. If someone does not register
for Advanced and fails to get into the Competitive division,
there is no way to register for Advanced at that point.
Players may also not play in more than one division on the
same night.
- At the end of registration, those players that get spots
will have their cheques cashed, those that do not make it,
will have their cheques ripped up.
- Team captains for each division will be selected from the
pool of registrants. The first two weeks of the season will
be used for pre-season tune-up and player evaluation so that
captains can familiarize themselves with the players before
teams are formed. Captains will then meet with their
coordinator(s) to form teams. After captains and the
coordinator(s) agree that the teams are as closed to evenly
matched as possible, captains will be randomly assigned to
teams. OCUA and the division coordinator(s) reserve the
right to move players to balance teams within their division
in any way they see fit. The ultimate goal is balanced
competition between all teams.
- People may register as couples in the Advanced, Rec, and
all Open divisions. Friday and Saturdays have the same
timeslot every week, so transportation should not be an
issue. Couples will be selected based on the number of spots
requested by couples. For example if half of the people
registering desire to do so as couples, half of the spots
will be given to couples. If a quarter of the people who
register do so as couples, then a quarter of the spots will
be given to couples. This will give the people who desire
to register as couples an equal chance to register (not
better, not worse).
- Cleats are permitted and encouraged at the Landsdowne Park
Bubble facility but are not allowed at the Carleton
Fieldhouse. Acceptable footwear for the Fieldhouse includes:
A) running shoes that have not been worn outside and
B) indoor turf shoes.
- E-mail notifications will be sent out on the receipt of
the completed registration package (cheque and online
registration). E-mail notification will be sent out again
when the registration process has been completed.
- Anyone using junk mail filters (especially hotmail) will
probably have their notification blocked as it is sent out
in distribution lists using the Blind Carbon Copy (BCC)
field. During registration you should monitor your junk mail
folders.
