START OF THE SEASON
Weather permitting (oh please, please!) the summer season
will start next Monday may 17th. Currently 40% of the teams
do not have the required number (12) of active members. The
leaguerunner system is extremely important to the
Association and we would ask that all members ensure that
they have re-activated their accounts for 2004. Here's
hoping you all have a great season.

OCUA TEAM JERSEY PROGRAM
The Season is approaching very quickly. The OCUA Team
Jersey Special is still being offered until the end of May.
For those teams that have already order thank you for you’re
business and good luck this season.

This season OCUA and Ultimate Disc Golf Store have partnered
to give OCUA teams an easier more cost effective why of
buying team jerseys.

The new summer season of Ulty is approaching quickly, and
www.UltyPics.com has also geared up for the new season by
getting a new look, as well as better navigating tools. We
have archived old pictures and have made room for new shots.
If you are interested in participating this year, head on
over to http://www.ultypics.com and register to start
submitting pictures. Note to last year's participants: the
user names and passwords from last year were delete during
the off-season software upgrade, so you'll each have to
re-register.
This year we have teamed up with the Ultimate Disc Golf
Store and Daredevil Discs to offer up prizes in a "Picture
of the Month" contest running through the summer and fall
seasons. Every photo that is submitted during the month will
be up for the award. Get your photo's submitted for a chance
to win a $20 gift certificate to the Ultimate Disc Golf
Store, and more cool prizes. The winning picture each month
will also be highlighted on http://www.daredevildiscs.com
and possibly http://www.ocua.ca as well.

DAREDEVIL DISCS' LAYOUT FOR LIFE 2004
OCUA's Layout for Life - Sponsored by Daredevil Discs.
Ottawa - Saturday, May 29th.
This is the 5th running of the Layout for Life tournament in
support of the Cancer Research Society. The Cancer Research
Society provides funds to Canadian cancer research
initiatives. We, the tournament, provide great Ultimate!
Where: UPI, OCUA's privately owned Ultimate fields
Levels: Elite, Competitive, Rec.
Entry fee: $225
Hat team : yes, there will be a hat team, contact
gavint@istar.ca for details.
Registration: by e-mail to gavint@istar.ca Registration will
be open until the week of the tournament, but early
registration is encouraged as it will help us to better plan
the tournament.
This tournament features full size fields and full time
slots (75 minutes). Field food (water, bagels, fruit) is
included in the price of registration. There will be a cash
BBQ and McAuslan Breweries has been generous again in their
support of the beer garden. Daredevil discs will be setting
up it's Fun Zone with a chance to win great prizes!
The rec division will be for teams that want to play some
Ultimate in a tournament setting, but aren't necessarily
there to try and win. The competitive pool is for teams that
would like to play hard and try and win something. The elite
pool is by approval of the TD and is to provide out of town
teams with a high level of competition.
Again, all proceeds of this tournament goes to the Cancer
Research Society, so get your team out and have a blast! If
you can only get half of your team out, let us know and we
will try and fill out the rest of your roster for you!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! - OCUA'S LAYOUT OF LIFE

This tournament needs several volunteers. Most of the
volunteer work needed is for the BBQ and serving beer (yes,
it does make you everyone's best friend!). There are also a
couple of spots for people to help on the Ultimate side of
the event. This help can be for a couple of hours, or for
the whole day.
One volunteer is needed for Friday during the day. If you
are a government employee you may have a volunteer day
written into your collective bargaining agreement. This is a
great way to use this day off! It helps Ultimate and the
Cancer Research Society and is very light work!

Bring your team out to the NAKINA SYSTEMS/SLEEMAN'S CHEO BBQ
& ONE-DAY ULTIMATE TOURNAMENT ...and start the year off

~~~~~~~~~~ HERE'S THE BUZZ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last year we pretty much booked up the tourney with 32
teams, and it was a resounding success! This year, we're
trying to make room for a total of 80 teams.
BUT GET THIS -- WE NOW HAVE THE SHEFFORD FIELD SOCCER FIELDS
FOR THE DAY!!! One soccer field = two Ultimate fields. So.
We have a total of 12 fields for the day!!!!
This is going to be AWESOME with plenty of room for
everyone!!!
Get your team stoked for a One-Day Ultimate Tournament &
Barbecue and start the summer off with a great day in the
sun!
~~~~~~~~~ WHO WILL BE THERE? ~~~~~~~~~
- your team to start with
- up to 80 other coed (4/3) Ultimate league teams
participating in a round-robin tourney
- we'll want you to state the night and tier you play in as
well so that way we'll have two divisions will give you
games that are evenly matched!
- tons of other people as a volleyball tourney will also be
going on
- spectators watching your game and watching Ultimate be
played the way it's supposed to be

- Saturday, June 12th
- what a great way to start the summer off right and you'll
be there at the beginning, the first tourney!
- games play from 9:30am ? 7:00pm
- music and the beer tent until 11:00pm
~~~~~~~~~ WHAT WILL WE GET? ~~~~~~~~~
- your team will play a minimum of (3) games during the day
- you'll get to play in a round robin Ultimate tournament
- you'll get free lunch and drink
- FREE MASSAGES to all athletes who want 'em (that's you!)
- there's even a kids zone for your breaks should you have
wee ones
- bands playing all day and into the night to add to the
festive sunny party
- BIG, BEAUTIFUL BEER GARDEN where you can party and cool
off after your glorious wins!

OTTAWA DISC GOLF CLUB PARTNERSHIP WITH OCUA
To all Ultimate teams participating in OCUA's 2004 season:
The Ottawa Disc Golf Club (ODGC)is pleased to be able to
offer to OCUA teams, ODGC annual memberships for their
players in conjunction with registering for the 2004 OCUA
summer season. For a fee of $100, up to 20 ODGC memberships
will be provided for each person on the team's roster.
Individual annual membership in the ODGC normally costs $35.
An option to select these ODGC memberships will be available
with team registration at the OCUA AGM on April 15, 2004.
