Rules Committee

RULES COMMITTEE

2013 members: Andrew Beck, Glenn Ford, Jim Robinson, Mike Reade. To join the committee, please email rules@ocua.ca.

Mission: The Rules Committee has the mission of being the guardians of the OCUA's specific rules, as well as implementing educational programs to help players learn and understand the rules of Ultimate.

Logistics: The Committee will meet once a month and select projects it wants to work on. An OCUA staff or Board member will provide the Committee with a budget and the necessary support to be successful. OCUA will also officially recognize the hours served on this committee as part of the competitive volunteer hours agreement.

Prerequisites: To be part of this committee, players need to possess a great knowledge and understanding of the rules (OCUA might ask you to pass a rules test). Observer certification is not mandatory, but it is a definite bonus.

Projects may include, but are not limited to:

  • Review the OCUA's specific rules
  • Implement a Rules Keeper position among summer league teams
  • Create a Rules Education Program to:
    • Evaluate and improve Rules Week
    • Create rules clinics
    • Implement a "Rules Expert" email address for players to ask questions
    • Supervise the use of the Rules Discussion forum
  • Review the Spirit Rating system
  • Get more Observers clinics held in Ottawa
  • Others

If you are interested in getting involved in the Rules Committee, please email us at volunteer@ocua.ca and include Rules Committee in the subject of your email.

Thank you!
