Specific Rules - Fall

While the 11th Edition Rules as provided by USA Ultimate, cover the vast majority of situations, and that most of the Summer Specific Rules can still be applied in the fall, there are certain areas where the Ottawa-Carleton Ultimate Association (OCUA) feels that these rules must be modified or added to our fall leagues. These rule additions and modifications are detailed here.

For any question with the rules, please consult OCUA Rules Discussion Forum or for an official, OCUA-supported decision, send an email to the Rules Committee: rules@ocua.ca

Games on Artificial Turf

All Fall League games played on artificial turf are to be played to TIME, and not to point cap. Half time is still to be taken at points (8 points).

Games on grass fields are to played as per regular OCUA rules, with a hard point cap at 17.

Captains can invoke the Captain's Clause to modify the default rules and play to a point cap on turf fields. To do so, both Captains must agree and, ideally, should make this determination before the start of the game.

Time Cap

Fall league games are subject to a time cap. If a game is played on a field where a game is scheduled after, Captains should agree on a timekeeper and a time piece and respect the end of their timeslot, regardless of the score of the game.
