Tournament Volunteer

Purpose of Position

Annual OCUA tournaments are a large part of Ultimate in the region. Tournaments take place January to September and cover all levels of Ultimate from elite to recreational. These tournaments include:

Tournaments are large scale events that take the collective efforts of many people to ensure operations of the highest quality. Tournament volunteers are the glue that keeps events such as these together providing essential efforts that allow the event to run smoothly.

Functional Responsibilities:
(Depending on scale of event, volunteers are needed for a full range of tasks including the following)

  • Field set-up and take down
  • Event set-up
  • Parking control
  • BBQ & Ticket Sales
  • Water & Food stations
  • Beer garden & host area (certification required for certain responsibilities)

Responsible To: Designated Area Leads, OCUA staff.

Qualifications: Dependent on position. Some positions require certification.

Recommended Skill Sets: Volunteers are encouraged to pursue areas of interest or strength. All volunteers should be positive, enthusiastic, good communicators and be interested in helping to run a good tournament.

Length of Shift: Often a wide variety of shifts will be available for tournaments varying regularly from 4hr to 8hr shifts.

Additional Comments: Tournaments are a fantastic opportunity to be involved hands-on in large scale OCUA Ultimate events. There are positions and areas of involvement for anyone with time to spare, no matter how large or small the time commitment. Get involved from small day-of-event tasks to leading a complete volunteer area.
