2017 CUC

The Ottawa Local Organizing Committee needs you to help bring CUC 2017 to life!

We are currently looking for Organizing Committee members! The Canadian Ultimate Championships (CUC) is Ultimate Canada’s signature event. Organized and executed by a team of volunteers, CUC wouldn’t be possible without people like you.

About CUC 2017

CUC 2017 will be taking place primarily at UPI, with adult finals and ceremonial activities taking place at Carleton University. The junior portion of the tournament takes place Sunday, August 13 to Wednesday, August 16, with the adult portion running from Thursday, August 17 to Sunday, August 20, inclusive.

The 2017 event is extra exciting because it’s a qualifying year for the WFDF World Ultimate Club Championships (WUCC). You simply won’t see better Canadian ultimate than the country’s top teams, competing on Canada’s best ultimate fields to represent Canada at WUCC. This year, CUC is also taking place in the midst of the Canada 150 celebrations in the nation’s capital. Don’t miss out!!

About the Local Organizing Committee (LOC)

The 2017 Local Organizing Committee represents some of the best tournament planning talent in Canada. Currently, the team has over 30 years of national and local ultimate experience: as CUC 2011 coordinators, league presidents, board members, tournament directors, committee members, volunteers, captains, and, of course, as players! Our team boasts experience volunteering in over 20 CUCs and large scale tournaments, not to mention attendance at CUCs across the country. We also have team members from outside the Ultimate community, experienced in their own fields, dedicated to bringing this project to life.

We are an independent volunteer committee that has been contracted by and is accountable to Ultimate Canada for the execution of CUC 2017. While the organization of CUC is not an OCUA initiative, OCUA Competitive Alliance volunteers can apply their volunteer hours toward their required commitment.

About Coordinator roles and current opportunities

You will be part of a team of Coordinators, all of whom will be expected to support each other through the planning and execution of CUC. As part of an unified team, volunteers can expect a positive and collaborative work environment where the time, ideas, and opinions of all contributors are respected. We’re a fun team dedicated to making this the best CUC ever.
