Community

OCUA welcomes members of all genders, sexual orientations, races, ethnicities, ages, skill levels, and abilities.  We are committed to providing a safe and inclusive Ultimate community, and advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in our sport.
What does advancing EDI mean for OCUA?
Equity: Identifying and removing systemic barriers and biases to provide fair access and opportunity to be a member of our Ultimate community.
Diversity: Seeking broad representation at all levels of OCUA: recreational and competitive players, captains, coordinators, convenors, coaches, directors, and staff.
Inclusion: Supporting each other so that all members feel included and valued for their contributions to our organization.

EDI is prioritized in OCUA's 2021-2024 Strategic Plan: R.A.I.S.E. your game. Inclusion is now one of our core values and is embedded in our organization’s Vision Statement.  We have also made a commitment to pursue several equity-driven initiatives through our Strategic Priorities and Objectives.

OCUA EDI Committee:
OCUA has established a standing EDI Committee made up of members and chaired by a Board Director.  This group meets monthly to evaluate the impact of policies and decisions on equity-deserving groups and make recommendations on how to improve EDI within our organization in an ongoing and thoughtful way.  If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or observations about EDI at OCUA, please reach out to inclusion@ocua.ca.

We hope you will join us in our efforts to provide a safe and welcoming community where we can all play Ultimate together.
