Game summaries

JT Got Us Fallin' in Love (Morgan) (21) vs. Ratioxoxo (Kindha) (18)

It was back-and-forth from the start with both teams playing solid defense and converting a large share of break opportunities. Team Morgan led by as much as four in the second half and held on to win by 3. Matt Hogel put in a solid performance (4G, 3A) for Morgan with help from Lance Blackstock (3G 5A) and Jay Thor Turner (3G, 3A). Keep an eye on Jay Thor, who Parity analysts say simulates well and is likely to finish high on the leaderboards.

Reason to love Ottawa #40 (Nat) (22) vs. How to Lose a Disc in 10 Stalls (Brian) (19)

Team Nat shot out to a 5-1 lead and never looked back in a game that wasn’t as close as it appears. Mikey Davidson was perfect on the O line (9-0) while delivering 6 goals for Nat. Steph Jack also found the endzone 5 times. Brian Perry (4G, 4A) did his best to lead by example in a losing effort.

The First Cut is the Deepest (Julia) (21) vs. Love Aggietually (MAnge) (18)

After a huge roster shake-up, Julia’s mostly-lefty team put in a fine performance in a comfortable win over Love Aggietually. The game was tied at 15-15 at the hour mark but a crucial goal from Patrick Kenzie to Hannah Lewis after a marathon point turned the tide. Alex McCardle anchored the winning offense with 5 assists and 4 second assists (and zero turnovers). Lewis caught 28 and scored 3 in a commanding cutting performance. On the losing side, Kevin “Koordinator” Hughes put in a strong performance (3G, 3A), but Marie-Ange was held back by youngster Cam Kennedy’s 8 throwaways.

Be My Frisbae (Laura) (26) vs. All the Single Bladies (Al) (22)

Team Laura took the lead 13 minutes into the game and never looked back as they went on to beat Team Al by 4. Kelsey Charie (6G 1A) and Martin Cloake (3G, 6A) put in commanding performances in the win. Single Blady Mike Lee (5G, 4A) did everything he could in a losing effort. Analysts are asking questions about Team Al’s underuse of Mel Bouchard who has the potential to turn games around but had only a handful of touches on the night.

Date Night: Neena Yo Biswas (Sully) (26) vs. When Cranky met Cara (Mehmet) (17)

Team Sully was ruthlessly efficient (104 completions) as they shellacked Team Mehmet by 9. The trio of Zach St. Amour (7G, 3A), Alexandre Tremblay-Larochelle (6G, 3A) and Rachel Hurdle (3G, 6A) was nigh unstoppable on offense as team Mehmet managed just 2 breaks. The Bo-zerkers were out in force and their chants of “Bo! Bo! Bo!” punctuated the evening as their man Shubo Bo Biswas chipped in 6 assists for the winning team. Patrick Mapp (3G, 3A) played well in the loss but raised eyebrows by only managing 2 D blocks. Upper management will be looking for a return to defensive prowess from the veteran moving forward.
