Vaccination Requirements for 2021-2022 Winter Season

OCUA believes that the health and safety of its members is paramount.  Therefore, for the 2021-2022 Winter season, OCUA will require full COVID-19 vaccination for participation.

The  requirement  for  vaccination  for  the  2021-2022  Winter  season  also  aligns  OCUA  with  the provincial health regulations and with requirements of the facilities used during the season.

The process for confirming compliance with the requirement (or exemption, as applicable) will be confirmed  when  Winter  registration  opens.  Rules  and  protocols  for  entry  into  facilities  will  be shared directly with registered participants prior to the first week of leagues.

In addition, all OCUA members, spectators, coaches and volunteers are reminded that they must also adhere to the OCUA Return to Play protocols (updated version to be released prior to the start of the Winter season).

Thank you for your ongoing cooperation as we continue to follow the health regulations to ensure everyone’s ongoing health and safety in OCUA leagues and programming.

2021 Fall Programming Update: Vaccination & Participation

For the 2021 Fall season, OCUA will not require COVID-19 vaccination for participation. OCUA does, however, strongly encourage all participants to get fully vaccinated to help protect themselves, fellow participants, and the community.

While OCUA is not requiring vaccination for participation for the fall season, some facilities used by our fall leagues are. In these cases, OCUA is committed to upholding and adhering to their requirements. Compliance with facility regulations will be mandatory for participation in leagues that use these facilities.

Adult leagues affected by facility vaccination requirements will be notified directly in the next 24-hours with more information. Captains will be asked to confirm that their players will comply with regulations and that their team will still participate in light of these changes. Teams who decide not to participate in the league will be issued a full refund with no penalty.

In addition, all OCUA members, spectators, coaches and volunteers are reminded that they must also adhere to the current Return to Play protocols (available here).

OCUA will continue to assess and monitor public health directives and will make a decision regarding vaccination requirements for 2021-2022 Winter Leagues prior to registration opening the end of September.

OCUA Diversity and Inclusion Task Force

OCUA is fully committed to improving diversity and inclusivity within our organization.  In support of that, the Diversity and Inclusion Task Force (DITF) was launched last year (March 2020).  As the first action since the 2021 AGM, the newly elected Board unanimously approved the continued support of and proposed plan of action for the DITF at the May 18th meeting.

We recognize there have been concerns of transparency and misunderstanding during the past year since the DITF was established, and the Board is prioritizing doing better.

Progress takes time, courage, effort, and a willingness to try.

You may have noticed the Progress Pride flag on OCUA’s Facebook profile, which we have shared as a symbol of our intention to strive toward equality for all our members.  The DITF and Board will work towards providing a community where no member will feel marginalized, excluded, or unappreciated.

To learn more about the DITF and the commitment of work, please read below.
